Tory Casey
American Folk Artist
I love color and light, repetition of pattern and the natural order of things.
I live in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina, with my beloved partner Joe Thrift, in a quirky house we built ourselves using recycled materials, architectural antiques, and lots of salvage. The house sits deep in the woods, far from the light of any town or the noise of the highway, surrounded by gardens.
In my paintings it is my intention to communicate with the observers imagination. With strong colors and deceptively simple images, I try to create an intense and specific accounting of the world I know. The people, the culture, the environment.
Using layers of color and lots of small brush work, I paint from a bird's eye view.
The following gallery pages show a portfolio of my work. Many are available for sale at local and regional art galleries. Information for these galleries is on my contact page.
